The Help Screen of the Select Constellation Menu
This is the Select Constellation Menu which you'll get when you have
selected F6:Show Stars in the Main Menu. It shows each of the 88 constel-
lation of the sky with:
- The constellation number (1 to 88)
- The 3-letter abbreviation of the constellation name in Latin
- The name of the constellation in Latin
- The name of the constellation in English
- The name of the constellation in Japanese
For your further action, input in the lower left corner of the screen the
number associated with the constellation you want to select, and depress
Enter key, which shows the next screen:
The Help Screen of the Show Stars Screen
The Show Stars screen lists and display in the associated data and graphical
configuration of the major stars that comprise of the selected constellation.
The star database of 3,100 is always used.
The Show Star screen shows in the upper left corner the date and time and
the name of the constellation. The picture of the constellation is
exhibited in a graphical form in the upper right corner, with each star
displayed in the color according to its spectral type.
Each star line in the lower half of this screen consists of the following
data:
Name of the star in Japanese
Name of the star in English
Greek alphabet name of the star
Visual magnitude of brightness
Spectral type (Oh, Be a Fine Girl, Kiss Me, etc.)
Right ascension
Declination (the angular distance north or south from the celestial
equator)
Azimuth, in degrees and seconds (your meridian is zero degrees, west
90 degrees, east -90 degrees, etc.)
Altitude, in degrees and seconds (your horizon is zero degrees and
zenith, 90 degrees)
Select the star by using Cursor Down or Cursor Up key, and the star of your
choice will be shown by a yellow arrow in the constellation chart in the upper
right corner of the screen.
